Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini

In the heart of Milan, set in the ancient Cloisters of Sant'Eustorgio, the Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini is a place to discover, where history and beauty intertwine across its permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.

Open to the public since 2001, in the heart of the Ticinese district and surrounded by the greenery of the Parco delle Basiliche, the Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini stands within the evocative setting of the Cloisters of Sant'Eustorgio.

The permanent collection of the Museo Diocesano Carlo Maria Martini now comprises more than a thousand works, ranging from the 3rd century AD to the present day, which have come to the Museum as bequests, deposits and donations. Together they bear vivid witness to the rich artistic output of the Ambrosian tradition, while also offering a fascinating overview of collecting taste, both archiepiscopal and private. In continual and dynamic growth, the collections are currently displayed along the three restored wings of the second cloister of Sant'Eustorgio.

The Museum also offers a rich programme in which traditional exhibition events – the "Un Capolavoro per Milano" initiative, around the Christmas holidays, and the exhibitions linked to Lent and Easter – are joined by photography exhibitions, lectures, art history classes, educational courses and other cultural events.
