FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano

FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano is a non-profit foundation established in 1975, inspired by the National Trust, with the aim of protecting and enhancing Italy’s historical, artistic and landscape heritage.

FAI’s work focuses on three main areas: the protection of artistic and natural heritage sites; raising public awareness of the value of Italy’s landscapes and monuments; and taking active measures to safeguard landscapes at risk.

Today, FAI protects and brings to life 75 special places throughout Italy, including villas, castles, abbeys and towers, as well as newsstands, barber shops, stretches of coastline and woodlands. In Milan, Villa Necchi Campiglio is an unmissable destination. For those staying a few extra days, Villa Panza in Varese and Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como are also well worth a visit.
