Continue to GAM – Gallery of Modern Art (Galleria d’Arte Moderna), housed in the neoclassical Villa Reale designed by Leopold Pollack. Here, you can trace the evolution of Italian and European art from the 19th to the early 20th century, featuring works by Canova, Hayez, Lombard masters, and the Grassi and Vismara collections.

Behind Villa Reale stretch the english-style gardens designed in the late 18th century. By tradition, access is reserved exclusively for children and the adults accompanying them. It serves as another of the route’s green surprises, right after the Foundation’s garden.

Located in the former stables of the same residence is the PAC – Pavilion of Contemporary Art (Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea), designed by Ignazio Gardella and dedicated to international artistic research and modern visual languages.

The itinerary continues into the Indro Montanelli public gardens (Giardini pubblici Indro Montanelli), Milan’s first public park, designed in the late 18th century by Giuseppe Piermarini.

Strolling through the park, you will come across Palazzo Dugnani, an 18th-century villa featuring a main hall frescoed by Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. While the interiors open only on special occasions, the facade and the lawn out front offer a natural resting spot as you head toward the Planetarium.

The Ulrico Hoepli Planetarium, designed by Piero Portaluppi and gifted to the city by publisher Ulrico Hoepli in 1930, is Italy’s oldest and largest planetarium. Its shows and lectures extend the itinerary beyond the history of Earth to the observation of the night sky.

The walk concludes at the Civic Museum of Natural History (Museo Civico di Storia Naturale), housed in a late 19th-century building overlooking the gardens. Minerals, fossils, dinosaur skeletons, taxidermy, and large dioramas showcase planet Earth's biodiversity and evolution in one of the most cherished exhibits for local families
