Cenerentola

Accademia Teatro alla Scala
Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa

With the choreography created in 2015, which is particularly suited to demonstrating the technical and interpretive skills of the pupils, Frédéric Olivieri provides a choreographic reading dominated by a fairytale and romantic style, and puts the talents and the expressive qualities of the future dancers to the test.

Cenerentola (Cinderella), the ballet set to the music of Sergei Prokofiev and choreographed by Frédéric Olivieri, director of the Accademia Teatro alla Scala Ballet School, returns to enchant audiences. Commissioned by the Fondazione Bracco in 2015, the choreography – with the prominent presence of classic and popular dance, court dances and exotic dances, pas de deux and variations, waltzes, mazurkas, pavanes and gavottes –, involves over 100 dancers. The virtuosity and expressive qualities of the young performers are particularly highlighted in the first act, in the dance of the fairies of the four seasons, summoned by the Fairy Godmother to take Cinderella to the ball; and in the second act, in the court dance, the dance of the three oranges, the Spanish and Arabian dances and in the variations and the pas de deux between Cinderella and the Prince.
