Having debuted last season with exceptional success, the original work by Alessandro Bandini brings to the stage a completely new aspect of Giovanni Testori, offering a portrait of the writer that draws on the intense correspondence in French that he shared with Alain Toubas, with whom he had a lasting relationship.
It was during BAT_Bottega Amletica Testoriana, which took place three years ago, organised by Antonio Latella, that Alessandro Bandini – winner of the 2025 Mariangela Melato Award – had the idea of examining an intimate and private aspect of Giovanni Testori.
Thanks to the collaboration of Casa Testori, Bandini was granted access to the extensive correspondence that bears witness to the moving love story between the Italian writer, dramaturg and director, and the young Parisian Alain Toubas, who was to become a respected art dealer and collector.
The result is a play that is both delicate and carnal, a face-to-face confrontation with the words of Testori, which tell the story of a burning and irrepressible passion that went beyond prejudice and convention.
