Di madre in figlia
Three existences, three ages of the same wound and the same battle to survive in a society that continues to oppress and constrict the bodies that fail to correspond to its dominant design. Directed by Gaia Saitta, Concita De Gregorio is the author and performer of this play, based on her novel.
A theatrical adaptation of the novel Di madre in figlia that interweaves private recollections and family stories, following the lives of three different women bound by all that resists and crosses generations. At the centre, Marilù. Unbridled, inconsistent and at times unpredictable, she leaves a trail of absences, desires and questions. Her opposite is Angela, her daughter, reluctantly severe, who tries to mend rifts, desperately trying to create an alphabet of love. Then there is Adè, her granddaughter, a troubled and mysterious creature, who seems to be from another planet rather than a member of the family. Directed by Gaia Saitta, Concita De Gregorio plays Marilù and also herself, a living presence, a voice that interrupts and inhabits the story, entering and exiting.
