Una delle ultime sere di carnovale

Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa

An affectionate and moving comedy, a delicate and painful farewell from a great writer to the city that served as a stage for his entire life, a life spent in theatre. Binasco returns to Carlo Goldoni, who is, as he was, a fine observer of the human soul, an author through whom to examine the present with the vibrant language of the stage.

Following in the wake of Il bugiardo and Arlecchino servitore di due padroni, Valerio Binasco once again turns to Carlo Goldoni, staging Una delle ultime sere di carnovale: on the eve of his departure for Paris, the Venetian author bids an affectionate and moving farewell to the audiences of his city. According to Binasco, Goldoni is not only a master of comedy, he is also a fine observer of the human soul, capable of revealing the truth about relationships, the hypocrisy and the little everyday falsehoods that lie behind a smile. In the vision of the director, the comedy is transformed into an act of love dedicated to a form of theatre that does not rest on past successes and that does not measure its worth in applause, but that continues to study the present with the most direct and vibrant language of all: that of the stage.
