An original work that examines Bradbury from a contemporary perspective, asking how Fahrenheit 451 can be imagined, written and composed today. Sotterraneo involves spectators in an exploration of what the novel continues to tell us.
In the celebrated novel Fahrenheit 451, published in 1953, Ray Bradbury imagined a dystopian future in which reading has been banned and anyone owning a book or caught reading one is immediately arrested. With Il fuoco era la cura, the theatrical collective liberally explores the original book: five performers retrace the story, identifying with the characters, examining the grey areas – the aspects that Bradbury suggests without explicitly addressing – and seeking new horizons.
The result is the story of an intermediate time that lies between our present and an anti-cultural future, in which the anaesthetisation of thought frees us from the weight of complexity.
